The Beauty of Imperfection
Five years ago I went to California to attend a 4-day business seminar, and I had the good fortune to sit next to Cheryl Hunter. I recognized her powerful presence right away, and we sort of became workshop buddies for the week. More than a year later I realized what a powerful storyteller she is, and what a moving story she tells.
To experience her true-life tale of trauma to triumph, grab a box of Kleenex and watch Cheryl’s TEDx Talk. (Note: Parts of the story may be upsetting to some children.)
Cheryl makes the best argument I’ve ever heard for letting go of perfectionism. Not only is imperfection inevitable, it’s beautiful!
I may be a parenting coach and writer, but I am by no means a perfect parent. However, I suffer a lot less than many parents who are idealistic like me, because I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty that emerges through my imperfections — like dandelions blooming through cracks in the concrete.
Thanks, Cheryl.
